Only the people with your link can watch.
Turn on end-to-end encryption in the Mac app. Screencap encrypts every part of the recording before it uploads. The key stays in the link, so we store a recording we cannot watch.
- The key never reaches our servers. It sits in the link after
#k=, and browsers never send that part of a link to a server. - No key, no video. Without the full link, the share page shows only scrambled data.
The trade-offs. Encrypted recordings have no transcripts, AI titles or summaries, no preview image when you paste the link into a chat app, and no download from the browser. If the link is lost, we cannot recover the recording. Mac only, and screenshots are not encrypted. How the encryption works.
